Understanding your orthodontic benefits and how we work with your insurance
We Make Insurance Easy
Navigating orthodontic insurance can be confusing. We handle the verification, filing, and coordination so you do not have to. Our goal is to maximize your benefits and minimize your out-of-pocket costs.
Here is everything you need to know about how orthodontic insurance works and how we help you use every dollar of coverage available
How We Work with Your Insurance
Four simple steps to maximize your benefits
1
We Verify Your Benefits
Before your first visit, we contact your insurance company to verify your orthodontic coverage. We will find out your lifetime maximum, percentage covered, and any waiting periods or age limits.
2
We Explain Your Coverage
During your consultation, our financial coordinator will review exactly what your insurance covers and what your out-of-pocket cost will be. No surprises, no confusion—just clear numbers.
3
We File All Claims
We handle all the paperwork. We submit claims, track payments, and communicate with your insurance company on your behalf. You do not have to deal with reimbursement requests or claim forms.
4
We Maximize Your Benefits
Our team knows how to get the most from your insurance plan. We will structure your treatment to use every dollar of coverage available to you.
What Does Insurance Typically Cover?
Here is what most orthodontic insurance plans include
Orthodontic Lifetime Maximum
$1,000 - $3,000
Most plans provide a one-time lifetime benefit for orthodontic treatment. This is separate from your annual maximum for general dental care. Once you use it, it does not renew.
Percentage Covered
50%
Many plans cover 50% of orthodontic costs up to the lifetime maximum. Some plans cover more, some cover less. We will verify your exact percentage.
Age Limits
Varies by plan
Some plans only cover treatment for children under 18 or 19. Other plans cover adults. We will check your plan's specific age restrictions.
Waiting Periods
0-12 months
Some plans require you to wait 6-12 months after enrolling before orthodontic coverage begins. We will verify whether your plan has a waiting period.
Important Note
Every insurance plan is different. These are general guidelines, not guarantees. We will verify your specific coverage before your first visit so you know exactly what to expect.

Insurance Questions Answered
Give us your insurance information, and we will contact your carrier to verify your benefits before your first visit. We will provide a detailed breakdown of what is covered and what you will owe out-of-pocket.
What if I have two insurance plans?
If you or your child are covered under two plans (for example, through both parents), we can coordinate benefits to maximize your coverage. We will work with both carriers to get you the best possible benefit.
Does insurance cover braces and invisalign equally?
Usually, yes. Most orthodontic benefits apply to any type of treatment—braces, aligners, or other appliances. Your coverage is based on the total cost of treatment, not the specific type.
What if my insurance denies coverage?
If your claim is denied, we will help you understand why and assist with the appeals process if appropriate. In some cases, we can resubmit with additional documentation to get approval.
Can I start treatment if I am still in a waiting period?
Yes. You can begin treatment during a waiting period. We will simply delay filing your insurance claim until the waiting period ends, so you do not lose any benefits.
Do you offer payment plans if insurance does not cover everything?
Absolutely. We offer flexible, interest-free payment plans to cover your out-of-pocket costs. You can spread payments over the course of your treatment with no credit check required.
What if I do not have insurance?
No problem. We offer affordable payment plans for patients without insurance. Treatment should not be out of reach just because you do not have coverage. We will work with you to create a plan that fits your budget.
Tips for Maximizing Your Benefits
Smart strategies to get the most from your orthodontic coverage
Start Treatment Before the End of the Year
If you have remaining insurance benefits for the current year, starting treatment before December 31st allows you to use those benefits. Some patients split costs across two benefit years to maximize coverage.
Do Not Assume You Are Not Covered
Many patients think their plan does not cover orthodontics, but it actually does. Let us verify your benefits—you might be surprised at what your plan includes.
Keep Your Insurance Active
If you change or lose your insurance during treatment, let us know immediately. We can adjust your payment plan and help you transition to a new carrier if needed.
